Nutrition Therapy

I offer non-diet food and body counseling with a mission to help you think less about food and focus more energy on living a joyful, abundant life. In our work together, we will explore your relationship to food and examine how your eating patterns intersect with your physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. I will guide you in the release of body shame and the embrace of body trust. The journey we take together will be deep. A positive and nourishing relationship to food and body can be a lifelong journey, but through the ups and downs of this journey, we can discover profound peace and liberation from the diet police. You may choose to use your newly compassionate self-care as a platform from which to change the world!

Welcome to a journey as unique as you are.

Initial Visit

In our first session together, we will explore your goals and your relationship to food and body. I will do a thorough nutrition assessment and we will dig deep into the “whys” of your food and health challenges, and look at your personal and family history with food. We will honor where you are now, and use your energy level, mood, labs, pain, symptoms, and unique perspective, not your weight, to assess your health status.

The initial visit is 75-90 minutes long to give you time and space to tell your story and receive answers to any questions you might have. As a team, we will work to create a plan for your unique journey. Whether this includes learning meal planning skills, challenging unhelpful diet beliefs, examining emotional triggers, or simply learning how to listen to your own body, I’m here to help you find a way of eating and being that is easy and satisfying.

Return Visit

In follow up sessions, you will be provided with the coaching, guidance, and tools to motivate lasting change. I will support you as challenges arise with your eating and body image, and help you discover the resilience to pick yourself up whenever the path gets rocky. We will honor your strengths and celebrate your accomplishments. I will help you reconnect with your natural hunger and fullness signals and (re)discover the joy of embodied movement.

Our work might include exploring the roots of your food and body struggle, learning how to set boundaries for self-care, unpacking the impact of social stigma and diet culture on the development of your eating behaviors, understanding the psychological and emotional triggers that result in binge or compulsive eating, rethinking negative thought patterns that harm your body image, and more. Our goal is to help you settle into trust, the knowledge that you do know how to care for your unique body. Free from diet culture, you can begin to nourish without fear.

Telehealth

All nutrition counseling sessions can be conducted from the comfort of your own home via a secure (HIPAA-compliant) video conferencing platform.  Many insurances cover telehealth with the same benefits as in-person sessions, but check with your insurance company representative to make sure. If you are self-pay, telephone sessions are also available. I am licensed as a dietitian in Washington and Oregon, and can work with you if you are located in either state, or in a non-licensure state (i.e. California, Arizona, Colorado, Virginia).

Eat without apology.
